Guitar Concert at St Chads Church

There will be a Dementia Friendly Tea concert on Thursday the 18th July 2024 at 2.30pm at St Chad's Church on Campleshon Road near the racecourse. There will be a change to the advertised programme as Hannah Feehan is unfortunately indisposed, but we are delighted to welcome back guitarist Isaac Cardow. Isaac has been doing great things since his last concert with us - he has won a Julian Bream scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music and achieved a distinction in his diploma. He has put together a lovely programme - Grand Overture by Giuliani, Vals no. 3+4 by Barrios, Songe Capricorné by Dyens and Asturias by Albeniz so lots to look forward to!
As usual, there will be about 45 minutes of music, followed by tea and homemade cakes in the church hall.
There is a small car park at the church, and there is on-street parking along Campleshon Road, but it can get busy so do allow plenty of time. If you are more mobile it would really help if you could park on the street to allow for disabled parking in the car park. There is wheelchair access via the church hall.
The event is a relaxed concert, and ideal for people who may not feel comfortable at a formal classical concert, so we do not mind if the audience wants to talk or move about! Seating is unreserved and there is no charge although donations are welcome. We give the hire cost to the church and the rest goes to Alzheimer's charities.

Great Guitar Getaway at Charney Manor in Oxfordshire.
I hope you don’t mind me being in touch. My name is Georgina Dadson and I’m a classical guitarist based in London. I am part of the Abeto Guitar duo with Matthew House: https://www.abetoguitarduo.co.uk/
Matt and I are really excited to be organising a guitar retreat with another one of our colleagues, Nicole Alderson. We are currently trying to get the word out to people and I wondered if you would be happy to share the below details with your members at York Classical Guitar Society?
The retreat is aimed at all abilities (as long as they are able to read music) and will have a guitar ensemble focus. The aim of the weekend is to provide an opportunity for guitarists to meet other like-minded people while working on their ensemble playing skills in a relaxed and friendly environment. At the moment spaces are limited to 12 participants so there would be lots of opportunity for one-to-one help if needed. Equally, if there are a few people who are more advanced, we have the space and ability to work with smaller ensembles.
The dates are 7th to 9th of March 2025 and the retreat will be taking place at Charney Manor in Oxfordshire. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks will all be provided as part of the price.
I wondered if you would be happy to circulate the attached poster with the York Classical Guitar Society and/or if you had any individuals in mind who you thought might be interested?
